7 Ways to Prepare For Fall on a Budget

  1. Save money on candles: Create your own yummy pumpkin scent by combining coconut oil, a little bit of pumpkin pie spice, and a little bit of cinnamon into your wax burner or in a pot on the stove. It will make your home smell heavenly!
  2. Make your own wreath: Dollar stores usually have plain wire wreaths that you can decorate yourself. Pick up a wreath and some pretty colored fake leaves. All you have to do is weave the leaves into the wire wreath and you will have a pretty fall decoration for your front door.
  3. Make a pretty centerpiece: Find some pinecones (or buy a bag of them) and spray paint them gold. Fill a clear vase or a large bowl with them to create a natural beautiful accent for your home.
  4. Watch fall movies: There is nothing like relaxing and watching Hocus Pocus or Halloween Town to get in the mood for fall and Halloween. It is a fun and cheap way to get ready for the season.
  5. Have a sweater swap: Get together with some friends to swap fall clothes. Chances are you all have some sweaters or scarves in your closet that you don’t wear anymore. Swap these unused items with your friends to get ready for cooler weather and add some new pieces to your wardrobe.
  6. Yummy (and healthy) dessert: Make cinnamon apple chips. Apples are very affordable and are in season in the fall. Slice the apples of your choice, place on a baking sheet, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Bake them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.
  7.  Christmas lights: Christmas lights are not just for Christmas! You can get them almost anywhere. Hanging some lights around your headboard or in a corner of your room or living room is a quick and easy way to make your place pretty and cozy.
