PORTALES-Students and faculty from the ENMU Social Work Program team up to help feed the Portales community.

Patricia Saylor, Program Director of the Social Work Program answered a need for the Community Services Center of Portales food pantry. The goal was to fill the food pantry which was in dire need. The drive was held on Saturday, November 4 at Walmart in Portales. Lourdes Terrazas, executive assistant of the Community Services Center of Portales stated it “was the most food we ever received in the four years I have been here.” The ENMU Social Work Program collected enough items to fill the large tables and racks which stores the food.

“The Community Services Center of Portales assist needy families in Portales and food is provided by case by case situations,” Terrazas said. According to Saylor, “The folks at the community center were as shocked as we were, and not only did we pack the pantry it is busting at the seams.”

If you would like to donate to the Community Services Center of Portales food pantry, non-perishable items are accepted Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
