School Is Done. Graduation Is Done. What Now?

By: Luis Larios

What can a student expect or look forward to after graduation? The question  has often been heard by many ears right as the graduate gathers with their family after the ceremony is over. Many of those students will continue their education, this being a master’s degree goal, or even a different certification within their specific career, a good example of that is the welding career, as they have many types of welding materials to work with.

The one reason why we as human beings choose to go through the sleepless nights of school work and endless stress moments, is because we all want to be financially stable. Not only stable but not having to be living paycheck to paycheck, although in some areas that is often the crude reality.

While the fair majority of the graduates will have an idea on where they will be working, some of them are already employed and only furthering their education to climb the ladder in their career or place of employment. However, for some this is only the start of a new beginning, many of them having to go out looking for work or even think of where to start to look.

Graduating college at any level is already a great accomplishment, the real struggle is finding a job or career based on what you went to college for. Many of those students use that degree they achieved to get a different job instead of finding something within their degree. What will happen after students no longer want to go to college because the degree they are pursuing will not get them the job they dream to have. Students will always have a change of degree during their college career, however the main goal within educators is to guide the students to be the best version of themselves. What will be the next step for those former students? Will they continue to get a master’s degree, perhaps a PHD? Will they be happy with what they accomplished up until that point and join the workforce?
