Why Fall is the Best Time of the Year

Fall is officially here and although people debate which season is the best, let me help you come to your senses. Fall is not to be competed with; winter, spring, and summer all have their benefits but there is nothing like autumn.

Here are nine reasons why fall is the best.

  1. The Weather
As summer comes to an end, the weather begins to get cooler. More nights are spent cuddling under a blanket with someone special and you can go outside without becoming sweaty. Fall is the perfect time to bring out your warm, layering clothes, which brings me to my next point.
  2. Clothing
Although many people talk about girls bringing out their boots and cardigans, guys also bring out their long sleeves and sweaters. Fall is just the perfect time to be creative and comfortable when going out because you don’t have to worry about sweating through shirts or not having enough layers.
  3. Trees Changing Colors
Fall is when all the trees begin to change colors and make everywhere look more beautiful. Earth’s beauty is apparent when the trees change from green to orange, to yellow. It’s a great time to take pictures with friends and family. It is also fun and satisfying to step on crunchy leaves.
  4. Sports
Football and soccer happen at the end of the summer, but when it’s fall, it is way better. Going to games when it’s chilly and rooting your team on, has become a culture in America. Also, going back to your hometown for homecoming is a great time to visit old stomping grounds, traditions, and get that nostalgic feeling.
  5. Halloween
Once fall hits, you know it’s time for spooky season. Decorating the house and dressing up makes it an exciting time of year; you can be whatever you want and have a great time. Carving and painting pumpkins with friends is always a must and so is watching scary movies all month long. It is a time full of scares and screams at haunted houses and mazes.
  6. Pumpkin Patch
Going to a pumpkin patch can be a fun and great place to create new memories. St. Bernard Farms in Clovis is usually open at the start of October, until the beginning of November. They have haunted houses, a corn maze, a haunted maze and much more. It is a great place to take younger kids and you can get popcorn, walk around and even take a ride to go pick out a pumpkin you want to purchase.
  7. Food and Drinks
Even though I am not big on pumpkin spice lattes, I do enjoy the food and drinks that come in the fall. Warm, hearty foods, such as soups and chili are good for those cold days; not to forget Mexican dishes like tamales, menudo, and posole. Coffee, hot cocoa, or hot apple cider, are extra tasty on those brisk mornings, as well.
  8. Black Friday and Cyber Monday
I am not one to go Black Friday shopping on the night of Thanksgiving, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t take advantage of deals. Stores like Walmart or Target have deals a week or two before Thanksgiving; you have to be on top of it but it is a great opportunity to get Christmas gifts for friends and family. Also, online websites such as Amazon usually have good deals if you don’t want to go to the stores. On the Monday after Thanksgiving, there is Cyber Monday, where the deals online are even better.
  9. Thanksgiving
I saved this for last because personally, I think that Thanksgiving is the absolute best thing that fall has to offer. The holiday includes most of the things listed above all into a couple of days and that’s the best part. There is something special about reuniting with friends and family to appreciate life. Thanksgiving is great because you can put school on hold and relax to re-energize and finish the semester strong. Not only is the food amazing on the day, but you get to eat those leftovers later and they hit the spot.

A time of changing seasons, early sunsets, and spending time with friends and family, fall is the best time of all.
