Where Are They Going? Senior Spotlight: Lesley Arrieta

1. Tell us a little about yourself:
I am from Hobbs NM; I have been working at Eastern as a peer mentor for two years now. I love being able to help fellow students to become successful in college. My hobbies include family gatherings, hanging out with friends, drawing, and writing.

2. What are your plans post-graduation?
I plan to go into the workforce and work for a year or two.

3. Do you plan on going to grad school? If so, where? And to study what?
Yes, I do plan to go to grad school. I plan to go to New Mexico Highland University to continue on my degree and do my master’s in social work.

4. Do you already have a job lined up? Or are you actively searching?
I have been actively applying and searching for jobs in both Hobbs and Clovis area. I just applied to my internship Juvenile Justice Services in Clovis and I hope to get the position.

5. What is your dream job? Why?
My dream job is to work with juvenile justice services as a juvenile probation officer. I have had an opportunity to intern there this year and it has been an incredible learning experience. Helping adolescences learn from their mistakes to ultimately become productive citizens in our society is what I want to do.

6. What is one thing that you’ve learned from the university?
One thing I’ve learned from the university is the importance of networking. It has given me the opportunity to meet many great people that I can rely on professionally and personally.

7. What is some advice that you would give upcoming students?
My advice would be to be open to new experiences and enjoy the college experience. By doing so using time management skills to find a balance to have fun and also be responsible with school.

8. Who was your favorite professor at ENMU? Why?
This is a hard question because I really enjoyed all my professors. But my favorite professor at ENMU is Tyleen Caffrey. Her classes are always fun and exciting.

9. What’s your favorite memory at ENMU?
My best memory at ENMU is being a president ambassador and showing prospective students and their families the campus and all the wonderful things ENMU has to offer.

10. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
In five years, I see myself having a master’s degree in social work and working at Juvenile Justice Services.
