Staying on Track During the Semester

By Gabrielle Smith

Trying to stay focused during the Fall 2020 semester may come easy to some but can be a struggle for others. Here are some tips that might help to keep you afloat this semester.

1.   Stay Organized

With the majority of classes moved to an online format this semester it can be easy to forget about assignments or attend live lectures. So, take time at the beginning of each week to plan out when assignments are due by using a planner or a check list. Staying focused on the here and now and planning out the time for assignments each week is an important aspect to remaining organized. These are easy and efficient methods to stay on track throughout the semester, because sticking to a schedule can be very beneficial for an overall great semester.

2.   Stay Active

Doing homework nonstop can make you stressed out. Staying active can help to reduce the feeling of stress and overall keep your mind calm all throughout the semester. Take time for yourself each day to meditate, read, do a hobby or watch your favorite show. Whatever it is that will help keep yourself more relaxed and stay motivated throughout the semester, just do it. It is important to take time for yourself because it can relieve the feeling of being overwhelmed.

3.  Stay Practical

The best way to stay afloat during the semester is to keep a practical outlook. Waiting until the last minute to get assignments turned in is not the most effective way to have a great semester. Cramming everything in until the last minute is not the most practical outcome and can cause more stress. Try to set short term and long-term goals throughout the semester because this will be a good way to keep yourself on course for the best possible results and is much more practical than waiting until the last minute.

Hopefully these few tips will help to inspire you to get focused and set healthy habits for the entire semester. Also, just having a positive attitude until the end of the semester can help make all of it much easier.
