Life Advice

Lessons learned by looking back

By Naomi Vargas, Lifestyle Writer

What can you learn from the life of a 51-year-old woman who has been married four times (two times to the same man because obviously he didn’t learn the first time), is a full time employee, and now a college student? The advice I would give young people is to finish your education, start your career, then focus on your relationships and children. Although my grandbabies and my children are my life, I do think that I should have completed all this first.

My life has been such a roller coaster because of my choices; I have made terrible ones and paid dearly for them. However, I hope to leave people with a bit of advice: Always know you pay for what you do in life before you leave this earth. I know this all too well, and I regret so many hurts I have caused. We are each born into life knowing what is right and what is wrong, yet why do we intentionally pick the latter? I wish I knew the answer to this question, but I am guilty of choosing wrong so many times. I am a work in progress and hope to merely  be better in all aspects of my life.

I read somewhere the grass is never greener on the other side, but greener where you water it. I never considered this and have made bad choices; however, I have learned from them and am grateful for forgiving hearts.

I wonder, too, at times, when being kind or doing good deeds brings so many blessings, why do we choose to do the bad? I will never have the answer to this question, as living in a small town I have learned that perhaps we often get bored and choose to hurt others as a form of entertainment. You must know that when you choose to wrong others, as stated before, you will pay for this. Let’s be better in life–let’s choose goodness, kindness, and overall positivity. It’s easy to be cruel; let’s be better and kinder. I guess this is all easier said than done, but I want to see my grandmother again, and in wanting this I believe I must live to the best of my ability for the years I have left.

I wish you all the best in life, and I wish you kindness, happiness, and positivity. Life is short, and you should want to really live it to the fullest with no regrets. Be well!
