Enough is Enough, We Need More Change

Early this week, there was a young black man found hanging from a tree in California. Why is that? Well, because white supremacy still exists, and it is not fair. A white woman may claim that police need to arrest the people who do bad things. This is correct, however, police officers pick and choose who to arrest for which bad things these people may have done.

There is no reason for a black woman who was homeless, trying to put her son in school by using a friend’s address to go to jail for six plus years; but a white woman who killed a kindergartner only received probation. What type of world do we live in, where hate is so normalized?

Another incident was when a black and white man were charged for the same crime by the same judge. You can probably guess the difference in their punishment. The black man received 23 years in jail, while the white man only received 6 months. The system was never made to protect black people. There is no reason a black family should have to worry about their loved ones every time they leave the house because of racism. This world is sick and there has yet to be any change.

These protests are happening for a reason. We need to be heard! All these protests for justice involving the beautiful black lives we lost over the years, and all we got is a street named “Black Lives Matter”. It is not enough. Finally, due to Breonna Taylor’s life being taken, the “Breonna Law” was passed. This law no longer allows no knock warrants. That’s it? We want actual justice and we will not stop until these guilty police officers are behind bars. The change needs to start from the inside and work its way out. We need people in law enforcement on our side, because marching? It just isn’t enough.
